Ap-petite Apple Ap-pie

Here is my third apple dessert of the season (following my Apple-Os and Apple tart): tiny little apple pies bakes inside of apples! My husband and I had a fun little family dinner last Sunday with both of our siblings at our favorite Burmese place in the city. I brought these for after. I think they are a cute little surprise for anyone, and actually not too difficult to make or too unhealthy! Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:
Dough for the crust (same as the Apple tart crust, but halve it if you are only making a few apples)
Golden Delicious apples (I used 5 for the shells + 1 extra for filling)
1-2 tablespoons brown sugar (to taste)
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Start by cutting off the tops of the apples. Next scoop the inside out of the apples. I just used a small knife and spoon, but I think a melon baller would work really well! Make sure you leave at least 1/4'' of the apple shell so that it doesn't collapse upon baking.

Chop the insides of the apple (except the core) into small pieces and also chop the extra apple (no need to peel the skin). Mix the chopped apple with the sugar and cinnamon and stuff in the apple shells. Roll out the dough and cut into thin strips. Use the strips to make a lattice over the apples.

Bake at 375°C for 20-25 minutes till the crust is browned. Enjoy warm!
