It's fall, it's apple season, and as I mentioned previously, that means I have an abundance of Golden Deliciousness to play with. This time I tried yogurt battered apple-Os. I have seen these done deep fried to make apple critters, but was looking to use less oil in the recipe. I did these in a pan instead, kind of like pancakes. The experiment was successful. I would describe them as crispy crepe covered warm apple slices doused in sugar and cinnamon. My entire batch was devoured in single sitting!
Here is the recipe:Ingredients:
3 golden delicious apples
few tbsp cooking oil
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup milk
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon powder
Cut the apples horizontally into circular slices. Cut the middles out of each slice. (I used a plastic water bottle cap to punch holes out of each slice.) Mix the flour, yogurt, milk, baking powder, and salt to make your batter. Add a little oil to your pan and heat on low/medium. Dip the apple slices in the batter and then them place on your pan. Once they have browned, flip and cook the other side. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over them, and enjoy warm!
I think I can actually get all of these ingredients in Indonesia!! Plus, we don't have an oven, so I love that this is done on the stove-top. I am definitely going to try this one :)
