Today is a bittersweet day for me, as I
will (at least for a while) be leaving the world of molecular biology
and academia. For over a decade, the confines of a laboratory have
become my home. Though it is a world that tested every ounce of my
being, I have grown to love the bacteria and the viruses, the code and
the graphs, the pipettes and test tubes, the DNA and equations. It is a
scary, difficult, and exciting step as I move on to learn new things in
the "real" world.
I made these cupcakes for a lab event a few years ago, and I think they really describe me and my career thus far. I guess
it is time for me to put on a brave face and go explore a new field.
Soon, I will have to make a new batch of cupcakes with a new set of
decorations.
Last day of school!
