Happy Holidays from Playful Palette!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season!
I'm doing a #TBT to 2009 when I had one of my favorite holiday parties of all time! I have some friends from graduate school who LOVE the holidays, and we simply couldn't wait for December. So, we celebrated early with a holiday party in September! We had some pretty strong opinions about whether sugar
cookies or gingerbread cookies are the better tasting holiday cookie, and decided
to put these opinions to the test. We divided up into two groups for the big bake-off and I was on Team Ginger.
My friend, A, shared her favorite gingerbread cookie recipe with us, but I think we skimmed a bit on the ginger--big mistake. We then rolled out the dough and cut it into gingerbread men shapes. Once baked, we decorated all of the cookies to resemble each of the party's attendees. We had a lot of fun throwing in a bunch of inside jokes! Can anyone guess which cookie was me?
We had an esteemed panel of judges (the guys who didn't want to partake in the baking, just the eating), who judged us on taste, texture, and artistic presentation. We knocked it out of the park on our artistic presentation scores, but the missing ginger really hurt us on the taste category, and sadly we lost to the sugar cookies. I think they made three different kinds of cookies that really won over the hungry judges. I call for a rematch!!
Hey, I'm the cookie with the bike!
